Thomas Nicholas Serres, 76, of Brownsville, Minn., died peacefully in our Lord’s arms on Thursday, April 7, 2016, at Gundersen Medical Center, La Crosse, Wis.
He was born June 18, 1939 in La Crosse to Joseph and Anna (Stephan) Serres, Sr. Tom served in the U.S. Army and on October 26, 1957, he married Delores Boesen at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Brownsville.
Tom worked at various jobs, Serres DX Station, mail and newspaper carrier and as a truck driver at Dahl Ford, Swift, and 35 years at W.A. Roosevelt. He was active in the Brownsville community, serving on the Fire Dept., Lions, City Council, and recreation association. He was a lifelong member of St. Patrick Parish and he especially enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Delores; eight children, Nick, Todd, James (Darlene), Ann (Bill) Fitzpatrick, Andrew, Joel (Kathy), Dawn (Ben) Spagl and Chad (Stacy) all of Brownsville; 10 grandchildren, Garrett (Beth), Kiel (special friend, Haley), Scott (Stacey), Rachele (Drew), Shannon and Jenna Fitzpatrick, Cody (Jenise), Leah (Nick) Levi (Taylor) and Abbey Spagl; two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Jayden; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joseph, Jr., and Ronald Serres, and sister and brother-in-law, Dolores and George Malotke.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 11, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Brownsville. Father Matt Fasnacht will officiate and burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Brownsville. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, at St. Patrick’s Breza Hall, where a prayer service will be said at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday before the service at the hall.
