HauserDavid_rgbWhether it was David, Dingsey, Sally, Sal Dog, Salamander, or Louie, his unexpected death on Sunday, May 1, 2016, will leave a void for many.  Fortunate are those who were able to share his last time on earth in his hometown of Caledonia, Minn., the evening before.

David was born in Caledonia, on March 20, 1956, to Celia T. Hauser. He attended Caledonia High School and then found his niche in life as a heavy equipment operator.  He worked for a number of companies but spent most years as a “Roadie” for Road Constructors, Inc., out of Rochester, Minn.  His battle with laryngeal cancer ended his working career. He then enjoyed his time with family, friends, and always had time and a hug for everyone. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, watching sports, classic cars, good tunes, and back road drives. He knew how to live life to the fullest and have fun doing it with a smile on his face.

Dad, he was to his pride and joy, daughters, Kristina Sherbon of Caledonia and Katelynn (Keegan) Buchholtz of Anamosa, Iowa, always loving and always supportive but certainly not afraid to let them know if his opinion differed from theirs.

Being Grandpa to Marley Sherbon, Ezra Sherbon, and Kalan Buchholtz brought a sparkle to his eye that compared to the brightest of stars! As with most, their energy could tire him out.

David’s siblings are Sheryl (Tim) Bissen of Brownsville, Minn., Linda (Gary) Conway, John (Mary) Hauser, Nancy Hauser, and Mary (Steve) Halverson, all of Caledonia. He was uncle to Sean, Kelly (Brad), Jason (Heather), Sara (Buck), Zach (Andrea), Lucas (Danielle), Jeremy (Angie), Jodi (Loren), Jacob (Erika), Justin (Jessica), and Julie (Jake). Great nephews and nieces number 12 at last count.

How fortunate he was to have his uncle, Ralph (Jessie) Houser of La Crescent, Minn., still with him.

He was also considered family by ex-wife, Carol (Loren) Lapham along with Gerald and Rita Noel and families.

And FRIENDS, David valued the countless friendships he made throughout his 60 years. And he has mourned the loss of many.

David was a strong man whose life didn’t always come easy. The darkest of times included the loss of his son, Alan. Rest assured that ‘Little Buck’ would have been the spitting image of his Dad when he grew up.

He was also preceded in death by his mother, Celia; his nephew, Joshua; and many aunts and uncles.

As most all know, he was a man who was always true to his beliefs and lived his life the way he needed to.  In memory of David – always remember – RELAX…

A visitation for David will be from 3 until 6 p.m., Thursday, May 5, 2016,  at Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Home, 518 W. Main St., Caledonia. A celebration of life will follow at Elsie’s in Caledonia. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Online condolences may be sent at www.jandtfredrickson.com.
