Shirley Ann Nims, 79, of Nevis, Minn., passed away on April 22, 2016, peacefully in her sleep after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Nov. 5, 1937 in Caledonia, Minn., to Floyd and Estella Schulze. After growing up in Caledonia, she attended secretarial school in La Crosse, Wis. She married George Nims, also of Caledonia. George then joined the Army. The couple was stationed in Georgia, later to return to Minnesota. They lived in Minneapolis where they raised their three sons.
After retiring, they moved to a lake home in Nevis, where they enjoyed the quiet life and pursued their passion of fishing and gardening.
Shirley is survived by her husband, George; sons, Steve of Minneapolis; Rick of Panama; and Tim (Rose), of Shakopee, Minn.; one granddaughter, Jessie Stickah; and two great-grandsons, also of Minneapolis; a sister, Virginia Arnold of Caledonia; two sisters-in law, Patricia Hoscheit of Caledonia and Dona Hartwig of La Crosse; and several nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Estella Schulze; a brother, Dewaine Schulze; a brother-in-law, Walter (Gabe) Arnold; and mother-in-law, Evelyn Nims.
