Lavern V. Kruckow, 95, of Caledonia, Minnesota, passed away Monday, September 1, 2014, at Caledonia Care and Rehab.
She was born July 14, 1919, in Caledonia to Fred and Louise (Gstalder) Kruckow. Lavern helped out on the home farm in Sheldon Township until her family moved into Caledonia. She then worked as a bookkeeper at Klinski Implement in Caledonia and later at Northern Engraving in Spring Grove until her retirement. Lavern received much enjoyment by spending many hours in her flower garden. She also loved to read until her eyesight failed her. Lavern was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Caledonia.
Survivors include her brothers and sisters, Arnold (Eleanor) Kruckow, Caledonia; Violet Gaustad, Houston, Minnesota; Marlen (Maxine) Kruckow, Houston; Wilma Wiebke, Caledonia; Dorothy Houlihan, Caledonia; Harold Kruckow of Houston; and Lyle (Mavis) Kruckow, Hokah, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews.
Lavern was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mildred Moen; one sister-in-law, Judy Kruckow; four brothers-in-law, LuVern Wiebke, Lloyd Gaustad, Howard Houlihan and Stanley Moen; and two nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, September 5, 2014, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 650 N. Kingston St., Caledonia. Rev. Jon Wolff will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. A visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the church. Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, (Caledonia Chapel), is in charge of arrangements.
