KarlAlmo_rgbKarl John Almo, 51, passed away July 9 at his home in Ada, Okla.

He will be remembered for his quirky sense of humor and his love of fly fishing.

Karl was born in Minneapolis on July 19, 1964, to John and Audrey Almo.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Randi Sue (Price), and his father, John Allen Almo.

Karl is survived by his mother, Audrey Almo of Minneapolis and Caledonia, Minn.; sisters, Kirsten Almo (Larry Beck), Tenely Smith (Stuart) and Maren Chiu (Michael); grandmother Ragnhild St. Mary; beloved in-laws; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was a graduate of Marshall-U High School in Minneapolis. Following high school, Karl attended the University of Minnesota and the University of Southern Illinois, receiving his MFA. His love of sculpture took him to New Mexico where he worked for the Shidoni Foundry. From there, he moved to Norman, Okla., helping the develop a new foundry and gallery at The Crucible. While in Norman, he met his future wife, Randi, with whom he eventually moved to Ada.

Funeral services will be held on Aug. 23, 2016 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Caledonia. A luncheon will follow the service. Arrangements through McCormick Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Houston County Historical Society.
