Helen M. Holte, 86, of Caledonia, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, Thursday, August 31, 2017, at Gundersen Tweeten Health Center in Spring Grove, Minn.
She was born Sept. 6, 1930, in Spring Grove, Minn., to Theodore and Annette (Blexrud) Ness. On Dec. 31, 1946, she married Floyd Holte. Together they farmed near Freeburg for 13 years, before moving in 1961 to Union Ridge where they continued to farm until Floyd’s death on September 3, 1988. Helen was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the VFW Houston County Post 3833 Ladie’s Auxiliary, both in Caledonia. Helen loved company and enjoyed having friends and neighbors stop by for a cup of coffee and a sweet treat. Helen also loved all of her grandchildren and spending time with them and was known to always have candy and cookies for them to enjoy. Helen had a fondness for her dogs, Dusty and Mitzi and her cat, Kitty.
Survivors include her three children, Dennis (Annette) Holte of Spring Grove, Minn.; Sandra Holtorf of St. Charles, Minn.; and Candace (Curt) Peterson of Caledonia, Minn.; grandchildren, Ronnie (Tammy) Holte, Karen (Brian Finlayson) Holte, Renae Olson, Krista Rediske (Jeff), Tammy (Ted) Waller, Jared Rediske, Jesse Peterson (Shelly), Adam (Leah) Peterson, and Amanda (Josh) Rask; great-grandchildren, Nicole (Andy) Flugge, Chris (Courtney) Holte, Amber Holte, Kellie, Kyle, and Brooke Holte-Finlayson, William and Mitchell Olson, Lane and Lauren Waller, Landon and Alissa Peterson, Kaden and Blake Peterson, and Emma, Mason, and Ava Rask; and great-great-grandchildren, Gabe, Wyatt, Crystal, and Nolan.
In addition to her husband, Helen was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers and sisters, Elmer Ness, Arnold Ness, Sylvia Gaustad, Clarence Ness, and Hilda Johnson.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Caledonia. Rev. Steven E. Meyer will officiate. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. A visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the church. Jandt-Fredrickson Funeral Homes and Crematory, Caledonia Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
