Robert Meisch

BobMeisch_rgbRobert O. Meisch,  age 90 of Caledonia, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2015 at the LaCrosse – Mayo Clinic Health System.
Robert was born December 1, 1924 in Mount Vernon Township, Winona County to Otto and Dorothea Meisch. He was raised, the third of seven children,  on Oak Ridge near Altura on the family farm. He married Leona Lamey in 1946 at the Catholic Church in Minnieska. He worked on the family farm, moved to Plainview and Caledonia as a farm implement mechanic. In the early 60s he and his wife opened the Meisch Upholstery Shop. During this time he also was instrumental in upgrading the Caledonia Ambulance Service. He was an active member of the Lions Club for 17 years and the Knights of Columbus for 45 years, 19 years as Grand Knight.  He was recognized as a leader in the community as a volunteer and organizer including Boy Scouts, Founders Day, and state recognition as Senior Citizen of the year.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Leona: four children: Arnold (Janene) Meisch of Prior Lake, Minnesota; Linda (Thomas) Dadko of Santa Rosa, California; Kenneth (Jane) Meisch of Caledonia; Holly (Earl) Klankowski of Caledonia; nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, Kelly (Darwin) Larson and their son, Damon, Lakeville, Minnesota; Abbey Avila, Van Nuys, California; Elizabeth (Ed) Dadko Sheffield and their children, Orion and Quinn, Santa Rosa, California; Andrew Dadko, Oakland, California; Josie (Stephan) Wasmundt, Stewartville, Minnesota; Margo (Mark) Matson,  Rochester, Minnesota; Ben (Allyson) Klankowski and their children Morgan, Madeline and Marlie, Austin, Minnesota; Caleb Klankowski and his children, Grady, Beau, and Abe, Dodge Center, Minnesota; Willa (Shane) St. John and their children, Braedyn Farr, Sebastian Farr, Hank and Greta, Minot North Dakota; and brothers, Gene and Otto and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lora, great-grandson, Kullen St. John, sisters and brothers, Rosella Felsch, Bernette Maschka, Marian Meisch, and Nick Meisch.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Caledonia. Father Matt Fasnacht will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m., with a 6 p.m. prayer service, Wednesday at St. Mary’s Holy Family Hall and one hour prior to services at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the scholarship fund at the Caledonia Lions. McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia, is assisting the family and online condolences may be given at mccormickfuneralhome.net.
