Betty Winjum

Betty Jane Link Winjum, 70, of Caledonia passed away Thursday, June 25, 2015.
She was born July 19, 1944 in Caledonia, to Raymon and Rhoda (Omodt) Link. She grew up in Caledonia and she married Virgil Winjum. Together they shared four children, Scott, Jeff, Tracy and Troy.
Through the years, Betty held many positions, including Control Data, Schiltz Farms, Caledonia Nursing Home, Caledonia Public School, and most recently APN in Caledonia.
Betty enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, bowling, bingo and sharing stories. She also enjoyed reading and she was a talented artist.
She is survived by her husband, Virgil Winjum; four children, Scott Winjum, Jeff and Julie (Goetzinger) Winjum, Tracy (Winjum) Schmitz, Troy and Jenny (Gengler) Winjum; six grandchildren, Taylor, Jacob, Madison, and Tanner Winjum, Claire and Nolan Schmitz; three sisters, Beverly Link, Wilma Nelson (Gale Danielson), Janet (William) O’Hare; a sister-in-law, Delores Link; and brother-in-law, Donald Schwartzhoff; many nieces and nephews and wonderful friends; and the caring staff and residents at Caledonia Care and Rehab.
She was preceded in death by her parents; mother- and father-in-law, Gerhardt and Leona Winjum; infant sister, Virginia Mae; sister, Shirley (Link) Schwartzhoff; brothers- and sisters-in-law, LaVerne and Shirley Link, Bob and Mary (Lovett) Link; sister- and brother-in-law, Joe and Marion Roraff; grandson, Garrett Ray Winjum; brother-in-law, Donald Nelson; nephew, David Anthony Nelson; niece, Jean Link; nephew, Greg O’Hare; and son-in-law, Paul Schmitz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Caledonia. Father Matt Fasnacht will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia is assisting the family and online condolences may be given at mccormickfuneralhome.net.
